The specific instructions are: Drowned & Baby Drowned with jack o'lantern.

A jack o'lantern is a solid block that provides light.

Obtaining[]

Breaking[]

Jack o'lanterns can be mined with any tool, or without a tool, but axes are the quickest.

  1. Times are for unenchanted tools as wielded by players with no status effects, measured in seconds. For more information, see Breaking § Speed.

A jack o'lantern also removes and drops itself as an item if a piston tries to push it (trying to pull it does nothing) or moves a block into its space.

Natural generation[]

Jack o'lanterns can spawn within taiga and snowy taiga‌[Bedrock Edition only] villages in the piles of pumpkins that also generate there.

Usage[]

Light source[]

Jack o'lanterns can be used as light sources underwater.

A jack o'lantern emits more light than the torch used to craft it. They emit the maximum possible light level of 15. They also provide light while submerged under water. Like most light sources, they melt snow and ice.

Building golems[]

Snow Golem

Iron Golem

Jack o'lanterns can be used to build snow golems and iron golems as shown below. Snow golems require snow blocks for their bodies, while iron golems require iron blocks. The jack o'lantern must be placed last or the golem cannot spawn.

Placement[]

Jack o'lanterns can be placed without a block under them. When placed, jack o'lanterns automatically face the player. Jack o'lanterns can be placed on a transparent block.

Jack o'lanterns are transparent in their rendering only; otherwise, they share the attributes of all opaque solid blocks. For example, mobs can spawn on them, they can suffocate mobs, and blocks attached to another block (such as torches and rails) can be placed on top of them or on their sides.

Enchanting[]

Jack o'lanterns can be enchanted with curses using an anvil.‌[Java Edition only]

Can you make a jack o lantern in Minecraft?

To make a Jack-O-Lantern, place one carved pumpkin in the crafting GUI, preferably in the center of the 3x3 grid, with a torch stick underneath. Once you complete making a Jack-O-Lantern, move it to your inventory.

How do you craft a carved pumpkin in Minecraft?

A carved pumpkin (and 4 pumpkin seeds in Java Edition or 1 unit of pumpkin seeds in Bedrock Edition) is obtained by using shears on an uncarved pumpkin. Once carved, a pumpkin cannot be changed back to uncarved.
