What Time is the Colts vs. Broncos Game Tonight?

Date: Thursday, Oct. 6
Time: 8:15 p.m. ET

Amazon Prime’s Thursday Night Football game between the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos kicks off at 8:15 p.m. ET. Every Amazon TNF game for 2022 is scheduled to begin at 8:15 p.m. The Amazon broadcast team consists of Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit in the booth with Kaylee Hartung on the sidelines.

In a weird twist of events, these two organizations are heading into Thursday Night Football with incredibly similar situations. Both are beat up and desperate for wins. They’re also coming off losses to divisional foes and will be missing their starting running backs due to injuries.

Javonte Williams will miss the rest of the season due to a significant knee injury, while Jonathan Taylor will miss some time due to a lower leg issue.

Both the Colts and Broncos have two new quarterbacks this year, and they are struggling to get a hand on their offenses. Matt Ryan has looked old, for lack of better terms. While Russell Wilson has seemingly lost his ability to scramble outside of the pocket.

What game is on tonight

The "Thursday Night Football" matchup in Week 5 features a battle between two teams attempting not to fall too far behind in the standings despite some early season struggles.

MORE: Live updates, highlights of Colts-Broncos game

Both the Colts and the Broncos were expected to be playoff contenders entering the 2022 NFL season. The Colts were viewed as the best team in the weak AFC South while Russell Wilson was supposed to vault the Broncos into playoff consideration once again.

Instead, Indianapolis has started the season with a 1-2-1 record. Denver has logged a disappointing 2-2 start and has averaged just 16.5 points per game, good for the third-fewest in the NFL.

Still, both of these teams have ample talent, and each should be desperate for a win as the league enters its fifth week of play. As such, this contest could be a better battle than most anticipate, provided that these offenses don't struggle with the inefficiency (Denver) and turnovers (Indianapolis) that have plagued them to start the campaign.

What channel is Thursday Night Football on tonight?

  • TV channel (Indianapolis): WRTV (Channel 6)
  • TV channel (Denver): KMGH (Channel 7)
  • Live stream: Amazon Prime Video | DAZN (in Canada)

Amazon Prime Video is the new home of "Thursday Night Football" and will continue to be for the next 11 years as part of an agreement the streaming service signed with the NFL. As such, NFL fans living outside of the Indianapolis and Denver TV markets will need an Amazon Prime subscription to watch those contests for the next decade.

However, those in the local television markets will be able to watch the contests on cable TV and other streaming services. The Indianapolis market will broadcast the game on ABC affiliate WRTV while Denver's broadcast will occur on KMGH, another ABC affiliate.

The Amazon broadcast is helmed by legendary play-by-play man Al Michaels and Kirk Herbstreit, who is working for the first time as an NFL color commentator. Kaylee Hartung roams the sidelines as the broadcast's reporter while a studio crew consisting of veteran host Charissa Thompson and former players like Tony Gonzalez, Richard Sherman and Ryan Fitzpatrick handles pregame, halftime and postgame coverage of the event.

Viewers in Canada will be able to watch the game on DAZN.

If you want to watch "Thursday Night Football" in 2022, you are going to need a subscription to Amazon Prime. It will be the exclusive streaming home of "TNF" for the next 11 years, and the games will only be broadcast on over-the-air TV in the local markets of the participating teams.

NFL schedule Week 5

The Colts-Broncos game will be the first of another 16-game slate that features four stand-alone games.

There is no extra prime-time contest in Week 5, but the NFL Network will broadcast another London game at 9:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. That matchup will be the first in the London series' history to feature two teams with a winning record, the Packers (3-1) and the Giants (3-1).

The "Sunday Night Football" game in Week 5 may be the most important matchup of the week. The Bengals and Ravens are battling in a contest that will decide which of the two playoff hopefuls will sit atop the AFC North after Week 5. Lamar Jackson has historically performed well against the Bengals, but Joe Burrow and Co. have won back-to-back outings after starting the year 0-2.

Finally, "Monday Night Football" in Week 5 will feature a matchup between the Chiefs and the Raiders. Since Andy Reid came to Kansas City, he has a 15-3 record against the Raiders. Since Patrick Mahomes has been the Chiefs' starter, they are 7-1 against their division rivals.

One final game of note in Week 5 is the Steelers-Bills game. That is expected to mark the first career start of first-round pick Kenny Pickett, who relieved Mitch Trubisky in the Steelers' loss to the Jets in Week 4. Pickett threw three interceptions in that contest but completed 10 of 13 passes for 120 yards and ran for a touchdown. The Bills' defense will provide him with a tough test out of the chute.
