FC Arizona extended its undefeated streak to three matches following tonight’s 1-0 victory over the defending Southwest Conference champions Albion SC PROS.

FC Arizona is now second in the NPSL Southwest Conference and has kicked off its inaugural season allowing zero goals through three matches. Tonight’s goal scorer was Ignacio Coba on a free kick in the 30th minute.

Looking to make a statement, FC Arizona stormed out of the gates led by Ari Sanchez, who had two early shots (2nd and 9th minutes) that were both deflected out for corners. FC Arizona continued to push and scored what would be the match-winner in the 30th minute on Coba’s free kick from 35 yards out.

At the start of the second half, goalkeeper Andrew Weber was called into action just seconds after the whistle when he was forced to run off his line. He made himself big and made a huge save on a 1v1. FC Arizona rebounded after this and found the back of the net in the 60th minute. However, the linesman signaled for an offside.

The match took a turn in the 69th minute when Sanchez was tackled with a cleats-up challenge. A red card was immediately shown to Albion SC PROS dropping them to ten players. Albion pushed for the equalizer but they were thwarted by FC Arizona’s backline, as they held on for the 1-0 victory.

FC Arizona has a bye next week and will make its first road trip with matches against City of Angels FC on April 8 and Sports Club Corinthians USA on April 15.

FC Arizona will return home and host Temecula FC on Saturday. April 22. at 7:30 p.m. at John D Riggs Stadium on the campus of Mesa Community College. Single match tickets are available right here and are $12 for adults and $5 for youth players wearing their club, recreational, or indoor jerseys.
