Empowering people to change their lives

Making of a LEADER The technical skills that helped secure your first promotion might not guarantee your next. If you aspire to be in a leadership role, there’s an emotional element you need to consider. It’s what helps you successfully coach teams, manage stress, deliver feedback, and collaborate with others. Over the years, emotional intelligence—also known as EQ—has evolved into a must-have skill. WHY EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE MATTERS Leaders set the tone of their organization. If they lack emotional intelligence, it could have more far-reaching consequences, resulting in lower employee engagement and a higher turnover rate. What happens when leaders are emotionally intelligent? Leaders who are emotionally intelligent foster safe environments, where employees feel comfortable to take calculated risks, suggest ideas and to voice their opinions. In such safe environments, working collaboratively isn’t just an objective , but it gets woven into the organisational culture as whole. In Summary All the great leaders know there is a lot power in their emotions so they make sure to learn how to identify, understand and manage them, and also go ahead to teach those they lead how to do the same. Remember, as an organizational leader, you are leading people, and people have feelings. Ultimately, this means that you are also managing people’s feelings so they are able to produce quality work. By improving your emotional intelligence through the use of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and maintaining relationships, you are en route to honing your leadership skills. Once you have a solid understanding of workplace emotions – including your own – you can lead a team to increased mindfulness and productivity. Emotional intelligence in leadership isn’t a ‘soft option’. It can be the key to success! #leadership #success #people #mindfulness #emotionalintelligence #emotionalquotient
